Alright so let's start this guide! If you're new to Elboys and you're thinking about choosing Rune Slayer as your path:

Pros

  • A variety of combos
  • Fun class
  • Good set of skills
  • Can be ranged
  • Great team support
  • Mob control
  • Highest crit potential


Cons

  • Squishy
  • Can be a hard class to use
  • High maintenance
  • MP Shortage
  • Guzzles down MP pots
  • Takes heavy hits
  • Has trouble with enemies that don't flinch
  • Combos can be broken out of easily in PvP


Like all classes, Rune Slayer has his pros and cons. If he suits your tastes then read on below to stay informed on how to become a pro RS.

Now, before you go ahead and play your RS, you have to choose which build you'd want to use. As you know there isn't enough skill points to get every skill (yet). This is all based on my experience maining Rune Slayer and the PvP build is from UniqueNguyen. (An amazing RS player)

- Assault Slash: A good physical move and the note you can get from an NPC quest. Although it was nerfed, I still like it.
- Kick: Useful for extending your combos and imo you shouldn't use it unless you got a b-slot
- Counter Attack+Mastery: More useful for PvP oriented RS but can be useful in PvE.
- Counter Chance: If you need to burn points then you should dump it in here.

1st Job :: Knight

ZZZZ :: Never use this.

ZZZX :: This not only knocks down...it also knocks away!

XXX :: KDs. No.

^Z :: Has it's uses in some situations

^X :: KDs

>>ZZ :: Your basic dash attack

>>X :: Knocks up monsters

>>^ZZZ :: Knocks monsters down after swinging wildly

>>^XX :: Also knocks monsters down after launching yourself into the air

>>^Z :: Your main loop

ZZZ :: Basic combo that doesn't KD quickly

2nd Job :: Magic Knight

>>ZZZ :: Heavy knockback

>>ZZX :: A fun rune spam move

>>^XZ :: Summons a rune from your hand


3rd Job :: Rune Slayer

XZZ :: One of your most used combos that can shortly stun opponents and the last Z lifts them up in the air. Easy catches.

>>^ZXZZ :: Shoots a rune ball down at an opponent and makes them flinch shortly

» Stats

Important stats you need!

50-70% Critical
20-23% Attack Speed
20-23% Accuracy
2000-3000 Add/Reduced DMG

Those stats are what you should always try to hit. Stats will make or break a Rune Slayer and under-equipped Rune Slayers will have a hard time surviving and slaying monsters. It won't be easy and it'll cost money so Rune Slayers may be very high maintenance.

Elements:

Resists
Dark resists and water resists are a must! Especially against the dark element. Why? Rune Slayers already have poor HP and they constantly need MP. Dark will definitely be a threat to you in PvP.

Enchants
Fire: For Rune Slayers, they have to kill their opponents before they take hits and the fire element speeds up the process by adding on damage from burn.

Poison: Does less damage over time than fire but it reduces speed

Dark: Not a great element for PvP oriented Rune Slayers since most people have dark resist. Decent element.

Water: A great element for PvE but just like dark, people in PvP will most likely have resist against it.

Wind: Pretty effective and allows you to dish out a lot of damage with your crit potential.

Rune Slayer is a fun class and I do enjoy maining him. Although, out of the three Elboy paths, Rune Slayer has it the hardest. If you plan on maining a Rune Slayer, I wish you luck. It will be a pain but I think he's fun enough to the point that he will be worth your while. Reckless Fist is also a fun class and if Rune Slayer doesn't suit you, RF might.
